Kukui Oil for Eczema
I've been using Kukui Oil as an ingredient in a lotion to treat mild, dry eczema on my eye lids. I've had the eczema for several months and been treating with a simple emollient cream from the chemist. This has eased the dryness, but not cleared it up. I've been using my Kukui based cream for a week and the eczema is almost gone. My cream also contains Manuka honey, shea butter, calendula & aloe vera, so I can't claim it was definately the Kukui that did it, but I'm pleased with it!
Kukui has quite a strong smell, not sure how to describe it - sort of like beeswax furniture polish. I find the smell too strong to use as a single ingredient in creams & lotions and dilute it with a more odorless oil such as sweet almond. In terms of viscosity it's fairly thick, similar to virgin olive oil. It's brown in colour.
