Kpanlogo is a dance and drumming rhythm originating from the Ga tribe around the capital city of Accra, Ghana. It became popular in the wake of Ghana's independence in the 1950's, a time of new life and freedom.
Kpanlogo is a "dance of the youth", played for recreation and enjoyment. The kpanlogo drum must be the most well known African peg drum, smaller than the conga but of similar shape and sound. Calf skin is used for its head producing a soft resonant tone it is played with the hands.
